 Soap Making

   Making soap is a labour intensive process, that requires formulation accuracy & patience. 
Each bar is cut by hand, cured naturally for several months & individually wrapped.

Local & organic ingredients infuse a natural nutrition for the most sensitive skin types.
No synthetic soap hardeners or preservatives are added to any of our soap bars, it is recommended to keep the bars dry in between use. 

    All soap bars are hand crafted by a cold soap making process. (this means the temperature of the oils remain relatively cool.)  We make sure to keep the  batches small as well, this ensures the freshness &  quality of the oils that are used.   Guaranteed fresh product!

We use quality aromatherapeutic grade essential oils to scent our soap & products.  The Essential oils are synergistically blended by our professional aromatherapist to envoke spirit & wellness & ensure effective results!   
          Essential oils are concentrated organic living molecules (aka:organic chemicals).

The life force that make up herbs & plants.     Moss, Herbs, Plants, Trees, Roots, or Seeds, all  store their volitile oils in different areas eg: sweet orange stores it's volitile oils in it's skin/rind.  Rose in it's flower, Cedar in it's wood, Carrot in it's seed, or ginger in it's root. The oils in the plants are there to serve a purpose, either to protect the plant from it's predators. Or to attract it's precious pollinators.
   All essential oils are natural antiseptics, &  some essential oils are antibacterial eg. eucalyptus, tea tree, patchouli or lemongrass. Pure essential oils should always be diluted with carrier oils, or salts before being applied to the skin or added to a bath.

     We have many wonderful healing Plants here In NOVA SCOTIA. We make sure our soap include them in our products whenever possible. For example the seaweeds used are wildcrafted, the herbs used are locally sourced or grown in our herb gardens.   All of  the vivacious soap colors are natural herbal additives that are toning and soothing for sensitive skin types. Goat's MILK(raw/ local), 
                                             ONLY Ingredients of a natural origin are used. 

                                      How did we get our name?

       We are often asked ... What does "OSHA" mean? 

... OSHA- (ligusticum porteri) or "BEAR ROOT" is a mountian perrenial herb relative of the parsley family. With a pleasant spicy celery aroma, it is found in the mountianeous regions Of Alberta & B.C. Osha is commonly used as a medicine by the Apaches & other native american tribes.  According to the white mountain apache elders, they would use it as a snake and insect repellant.  This herb root is an effective medicine used in the curing of common colds, flus, sore throats, cough, sinitis & other side effects of the winter season.  Osha means "Bear root" in native american language.  It is best harvested in the afternoon, as the plants are relished by bears who tend to graze in the mornings.    Osha is also known by the following names:  Love root, Indian root, mountain ginseng, empress of the dark forest, & washia.  It is a wonderful antiviral antibiotic plant and simply...a wonderful name.  We have medicine magic growning all around us, we just need to open our eyes and awareness to it.

1904 Cuthbert Hall proved that natural eucalyptus oil was more effective than it's synthesized counterpart.

1964 Jean Valnet (physican) published Aromatherapie wherein he describes his successful treatment of medicial & psychiatric disorders in a program including essential oils.
